You ain't nothing but a hound dog....

Elvis is alive (she says with a "Frankenstein"-esque accent)! Alive!

Don't believe me???

I have proof....well, sort of!

So, in the midst of the obscenely crazy month of June, Hubby came home and said we were invited to go see Elvis in concert.

On stage.....

My first response was obvious: "Uh, Elvis is dead."

Hubby: "No, no, no. Ron and his wife, Gina invited us to go see him at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens Concert in the Gardens Series."

Me: "Uh, Elvis is dead."

Hubby: "Duh, it's an Impersonator!"

So, at this point, I'm thinking...."WHATEVER." I'm not going to some Las Vegas-Cheesy-Elvis -Impersonator-Crap-Show. But, because I'm a supportive wife and the folks who invited us are business clients, and the other couple attending are good friends, I put on my Elvis shades, packed a picnic dinner (with an extra bottle of wine in case it was lame) and pretended to be excited.

We arrived at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, found our table (which was very close to the stage), set up our picnics, popped the cork on some wine and hunkered down, waiting for the hunk-a-hunka-burning Impersonator.

Turns out he was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Elvis died when I was 4, so I have no point of reference to the original, but my Mom was a fan and listened to his music a lot. This guy did a fantastic job. His voice, his moves and his costume were all spot on! I've been shaking my hips ever since the show!!

I'm still learning...

UPDATE: HOJ 'splained how to fix my problem.....Thanks, Jules!!!

OK, so if you know the answer to this question bloggers, please let me know asap! How do you change a date on your posts? I started my Elvis post a few days ago and didn't finish until today (see post below the Double Digits post) and because it was dated prior to the last post I did about my daughter, it placed itself before hers.

Double Digits, baby!

Singing in the choir (and looking adorable)! Notice the Texas "tattoo" on her cheek!

I know I promised that my next post would be about my evening with The King, however I'm still working on that post and today is a very, very special day! I could not let it pass without paying tribute to one of the most amazing creatures on the planet......my daughter!

With her BFF (who's 10th birthday is tomorrow) in Atlanta this summer!

At 4:23 this afternoon, she turns 10! Double digits, baby! She's grown up so fast and is so full of personality (which, of course she gets from her mother)! I remember the first time I held her (after the nurses got all the goo off of her) and I just stared in amazement at this tiny little human being that I created. OK, yes I had a little help on the creation front, but to be fair...I had to carry her around for 9 months during the hottest summer on record in Atlanta, GA so I get a little more cred than the Mr.

Showing off her "new" braces!

She was beautiful then and still is today! I grew up wanting nothing more than to be a Mommy, so that first moment holding her was magical. I was speechless, which is a rare occurrence. Realizing a life-long dream is breathtaking. I helped God create a miracle and I still and will always feel she is a miracle. She was my first Dream Come True (the second followed 4 years later).

Dude, Santa brought her a scooter.....cool!

Today she is a little spit-fire with an advanced (read: sarcastic) sense of humor and more personality than she knows what to do with! I can only imagine what her future holds, but whatever life brings her way she will always be my little baby girl!

A self-portrait

Happy Birthday to my "dream come true, my one and only YOU!"

Summer time and the living's.....CRAZY!!

OMG! June was a very, very busy month. As most of you know I spent the first part of the month in Austin going through Nanny's house preparing it to be sold after her passing. I'm still a little freaked out that you can live 90 years and the majority of your memories end up in a black garbage bag or donated to charity!

While that was a very difficult experience, I also had some fun, fun, fun! While in Austin, I met an old friend for a night of a million laughs! We actually reconnected on Face Book. I was a little nervous meeting him because it's been almost 20 years. Would he still have his mullett? Would he recognize me without my over-teased, over-sprayed Bon Jovi hairdo? As soon as he walked through the door to the cafe's patio area I recognized him! Jeff B....with no mullett!

Me and Jeff

He looks exactly the same and hasn't lost any of his jovial, silly, fun personality! We had such a good time with his wife, my cousin, great food, lots of beers and too many old memories to count!

Jeff and his lovely wife, Brooke!

Thanks for a fantastic evening, Jeff and Brooke! I really needed it after all the trauma of Nanny's passing! You guys are a great couple and we definitely need to do it again.....this time you need to visit me in Ft. Worthiness!

So, for my next post....I'll tell you all about my night with ELVIS!
